Richmond (Yorks) Golf Club is an 18-hole course located in Richmond, North Yorkshire. The layout comprises eight original holes and ten holes added in 1972 by celebrated designer Fred Pennink, who maximized the available space. The course measures 6,083 yards with a par of 71, featuring four par 5s and five par 3s. Accuracy rather than length defines the challenge at Richmond. The greens are notably undulating and slick, rewarding skilled putters with fair conditions. The exposed setting means wind can significantly affect play. A Course Slope Standard of 70 reflects the course's genuine difficulty. The signature hole is the short 18th (162 yards for men, 119 yards for ladies), where players hit over a wood to a green positioned in front of the clubhouse, offering a picturesque setting. The course has been lengthened over the decades, with strategic improvements made to enhance the playing experience while maintaining its fundamental character as an accuracy-focused test.
