Wawenock Golf Club is a historic 9-hole heathland-style course located in Walpole, Maine, five miles south of Damariscotta in the Midcoast region. Founded in 1926, it was designed by renowned Golden Age architects Wayne Stiles and John Van Kleek. The course features open fairways, strategically positioned bunkers, and moderately sized, slightly contoured greens averaging around 5,000 square feet with medium speed. Water hazards come into play on two holes. With alternate tees, the course plays 5,500 to 6,200 yards for an 18-hole round, offering variety and challenge while maintaining accessibility. The design balances fair but firm playing conditions suitable for golfers of all skill levels. The course is situated on Route 129 and is open to the public, offering both day-play and membership options. Its relaxed atmosphere combined with thoughtful course architecture has made it a fixture for generations of golfers in Maine.
