El Dorado Golf Course at Quail Valley is an 18-hole, par-71 layout located in Missouri City, Texas. Originally designed by Jack Miller and Jay Riviere, the course was revamped in 2008 by architect Jeff Blume, who raised green complexes, redesigned bunkers, and modernized the overall playability. The course features Bermuda grass fairways and greens with water hazards on several holes and strategic bunkering throughout.
El Dorado presents moderate difficulty with multiple tee options ranging from 420 to 693 yards. Notable characteristics include water hazards such as lakes and Stafford Run Creek, undulating greens, and grass bunkers. Signature holes include the par-5 seventh, a peninsula hole surrounded by water, and the par-5 eighteenth, the course's longest hole. The par-3s offer variety in length and challenge, while the par-5s provide risk-reward opportunities.
The course was formerly private and hosted the PGA Tour's Houston Open in 1973-1974. Today, it is recognized as one of Texas's highest-rated public golf courses, designed to accommodate players of all skill levels while maintaining competitive challenge.
