Venue

Guildford Golf Club

Surrey, British Columbia, Canada

Guildford Golf Club, established in 1886 and redesigned by J H Taylor, is situated on the chalk Merrow Downs in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The 18-hole course measures 6,160 yards and is built on typical Surrey downland terrain with rolling slopes bordered by attractive woodlands. The layout provides excellent views across the landscape, from Guildford Cathedral to the Surrey Hills, Wembley Arch, and Canary Wharf. As a downland course, Guildford presents a challenging layout suitable for golfers of all abilities, with no two holes being identical. The course exemplifies the open commons design characteristic of early English inland golf courses. Surrey's oldest golf club, Guildford retains its traditional heritage while maintaining modern facilities, including a clubhouse with bars and practice areas for range and short-game work. The chalk downland setting provides both aesthetic appeal and distinctive playing characteristics throughout the seasons.
