J.S. Clark Golf Course

Baton Rouge, LA, United States

J.S. Clark Golf Course is a renovated 9-hole course located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, that originally opened in 1954. Following a comprehensive 2023 renovation, the course now stretches to 3,162 yards and plays to par 36, featuring two par 5s, two par 3s, and five par 4s. The course offers 18-hole play on a 6,324-yard layout at par 72. A distinctive design feature includes exceptionally large putting greens ranging from 8,500 to 10,500 square feet, with multiple levels and slopes. These greens accommodate two separate holes each, allowing 18-hole players to play different pins on their second nine holes. The par 3 fifth hole features a notably deep green extending nearly 50 yards front to back, creating significant club selection variability. The course is set within Greenwood Park and incorporates natural features including a Cypress Bayou ravine, ponds, and wooded areas. Notable characteristics include multi-level greens requiring accuracy on approach shots and various strategic hazards including bunkers and water features. The renovation significantly expanded the original nine-hole course, which originally played to only par 31 at 1,861 yards. The facility also includes a lighted driving range and practice area and serves as home to The First Tee of East Baton Rouge Parish youth program.
