Gowan Brae Golf and Country Club is an 18-hole course located on the shores of Bathurst Harbour in the Bay of Chaleur. The layout features challenging holes that demand precision and strategic play. Notable holes include the par-five 2nd, a 488-yard straightaway bordered by bunkers and water hazard that plays longer than its length suggests, with a severely sloped green prone to three-putts. The par-three 15th is described as an exquisite hole similar to Pebble Beach's 7th, featuring a postage stamp-sized green surrounded by deep pot bunkers and typically affected by stiff winds requiring accuracy. The par-four 9th presents a difficult dogleg left with trouble on both sides and a green perched on a knoll guarded by a front bunker with sharp front-to-back slope. The course's waterfront setting and challenging design make it suitable for hosting tournaments accommodating 4 to 200 players, along with banquet and wedding facilities.
