Desert Lakes Golf Course is a public facility located at the base of the Sacramento Mountain range in Alamogordo, New Mexico. Remodeled in 1996-97 by Williams & Gill, the 18-hole course features four sets of tees accommodating all skill levels. The front nine presents a tree-lined, parkland-style layout with large greens displaying subtle undulations. The back nine, known as "the desert nine," is carved from the southern New Mexico desert landscape, maintaining the course's characteristic large greens while providing striking visual contrast. Water hazards feature prominently on eleven holes, creating challenge and variety for all golfers. The course's rolling terrain with links-style elements offers an interesting blend of design styles. Alamogordo's year-round golfing climate features summer temperatures in the 90s and moderate winter conditions, making Desert Lakes accessible throughout the year.
