City Park Golf Course

Dalrymple Drive

Baton Rouge, LA, United States

Built in 1926 and designed by Tom Bendelow, City Park Golf Course is a historic nine-hole course recognized as one of only 20 in the nation on the National Register of Historic Places. Located on 40 acres in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, it was the community's first municipal golf course. The layout features four par-3 holes and five par-4 holes with notable elevation changes of up to 25 feet throughout the course. The setting is distinguished by mature oak trees, natural beauty, lake vistas, and a small bayou, creating terrain that differs significantly from typical south Louisiana golf courses. Key characteristics include tight fairways, small greens protected by bunkers and water hazards, and challenging slopes. Hole 7 stands as the most difficult, featuring rolling hills and a demanding right-to-left dogleg with hazards. Hole 8, a long uphill par-3, is noted for its nearly blind approach from the back tee. The course underwent renovations in 2007 and remains ideal for quick rounds or league play, offering an accessible challenge suitable for players of varying skill levels.
