Shawnee Hills Golf Course in Bedford Reservation is a 27-hole facility that expanded to its current configuration in 1989. The original 18 holes were designed by local architect Ben Zink in 1957, with only four original holes remaining after the expansion. The course features an 18-hole regulation course and a 9-hole Par 3 course.
The front nine offers gentle rolling terrain with water hazards reminiscent of Florida courses, while the challenging back nine features hills, large pines, maples, and oaks with Deer Lick Creek running through it, evoking Carolina-style golf. Notable characteristics include "gorge holes" #11 and #12, and the course's signature difficulty: hole #4, a 469-yard uphill, tree-lined dogleg left par 4 that is described as one of the toughest holes in Cleveland Metroparks.
The course emphasizes versatility, accommodating players of all skill levels with amenities including a 29-station driving range, putting greens, golf lessons, and accessibility features such as Solorider golf carts for individuals requiring mobility assistance.
