Aberystwyth Golf Course

Aberystwyth Golf Club is an 18-hole championship course situated above the coastal town of Aberystwyth in Mid Wales, overlooking Cardigan Bay. Designed by legendary six-time Open Champion Harry Vardon, the course is renowned for its exceptional panoramic views stretching from Snowdonia and the Llyn Peninsula to the Preseli Mountains in Pembrokeshire. The course is characterized by its elevated hilltop setting, which provides dramatic vistas across the Welsh coastline and Irish Sea. The layout features varied holes that demand imagination and strategic play, with fairways, greens, and bunkers maintained to championship standard. The terrain presents a genuine challenge to golfers of all abilities, combining the natural undulation of the landscape with thoughtfully designed hazards. The course has been recognized as a hidden gem, featuring in Golf Monthly's 100 Hidden Gems for the UK and Ireland, and is ranked among the NCG Top 40s in Wales. Its spectacular setting and enduring design have allowed it to withstand the test of time since Vardon's original conception, making it one of his most visually impressive creations. The combination of challenging golf and world-class scenery makes Aberystwyth a distinctive destination course.
