Manawatū-Whanganui, New Zealand
Waimarino Golf Club is New Zealand's second highest golf course, situated at 580 metres above sea level on the Ohakune to Raetihi Road in the Central Plateau. The 18-hole championship course features a par 72 layout set against the dramatic backdrop of Mount Ruapehu, with picturesque scenery encompassing mountain and farmland views.
The elevated location provides a distinctive playing experience, with the altitude allowing golf balls to travel further than at lower elevations. The course is designed to accommodate golfers of all skill levels, from beginners to low handicap players. Waimarino operates year-round and welcomes both individual players and groups. Facilities available for hire include golf carts, clubs, trundlers, and a function room. The club also offers structured ladies' golf on Wednesday mornings (9-hole competition) and junior golf membership programs. A centennial celebration is scheduled for April 3-5, 2026.
