Clays Golf Club, also known as Clays Golf Centre, is an 18-hole parkland course located on Bryn Estyn Road near Holt, on the outskirts of Wrexham in North Wales. The club was founded in 1985 and the course set within around 100 acres of rolling Welsh countryside. It measures approximately 5,942 yards and plays to a par of 69, with a course rating of 67.9 and a slope of 112. No notable original designer is recorded for the course, which has developed and matured considerably since its establishment.
The terrain is gently rolling parkland, with manicured fairways and undulating greens providing the primary challenges. The layout rewards accuracy and course management, with tight fairways on several holes and a variety of shot shapes required throughout the round. A par-three over water features among the more visually distinctive holes on the back nine. The course has developed a reputation as one of the more popular pay-and-play facilities in North Wales and the North West of England, made more accessible following the opening of a nearby bypass in 2012 that brought it within easier reach of Chester, Liverpool, and Manchester.
The wider facility operates as a comprehensive golf centre, housing a 20-bay floodlit driving range, state-of-the-art indoor coaching studios, an indoor putting studio, a 2,500 square foot golf shop, and an award-winning Golf Academy. The Director of Golf, Jason Davies, holds recognition as a Golf World Top 100 Coach. The club also serves as the National Mizuno Custom Fitting Centre.
