St. Mellons Hotel and Country Club

Glamorgan, Wales

St. Mellons Golf Club is a premier parkland course located between Cardiff and Newport in South Wales, situated just 5 miles from both city centres. The course was designed by renowned international golf course designer Harry Colt, placing it among prestigious clubs such as Wentworth and Sunningdale. The layout features undulating fairways, tricky greens, and notably deep bunkers that present a significant challenge. The course is characterized by its stunning setting with panoramic views across the surrounding landscape toward Monmouthshire and the Bristol Channel. The design demands strategic tee shots rather than relying on distance alone, making it a thoughtful test of golf. St. Mellons is consistently regarded as one of Wales' best parkland courses and is highly respected for its conditioning and challenging layout. The course accommodates various play formats including individual visitors, societies, and corporate outings. A practice area is available for preparation, and the club offers professional instruction through its PGA-qualified team. The clubhouse facilities include food and beverage services, hosting both casual play and formal events.
