Nasu Chifuriko Country Club is an 18-hole, par-72 resort course located in the Nasu Highlands of Tochigi Prefecture, Japan. Situated at an elevation of approximately 500 meters, the layout is designed by J. Michael Poullet and wraps around Chifuri Lake, offering expansive views of the Nasu mountain range. The course is characterized by wide fairways and gentle undulations, utilizing the natural terrain to create a strategic yet accessible layout for golfers of varying skill levels. The yardage varies significantly depending on the tee boxes, ranging from 4,182 yards for the pink tees to 6,582 yards for the back tees. The course features a mix of par 3, 4, and 5 holes, with the back nine presenting notable challenges such as the 561-yard 13th hole and the 506-yard 18th hole. Several holes are lined with out-of-bounds areas, particularly on the right side of the 4th, 13th, and 15th holes, requiring precise driving. The greens are often multi-tiered, such as the third hole, demanding careful approach shots and pin placement awareness. Natural elements play a central role in the course's design philosophy, with the landscape serving as a primary designer alongside Poullet. The grounds are rich with natural forests that change character with the seasons, featuring blooming kirisima tsutsuji in spring and vibrant foliage in autumn. The course is equipped with automatic electromagnetic induction carts, allowing for comfortable play for both solo and two-ball groups. The facility is integrated with a hotel and restaurant, offering a full resort experience adjacent to the golf course. Players have access to natural hot springs, described as weak alkaline hypotonic Nasu hot water, for relaxation after play. The club house, designed by Kajima Design, houses the reception, dining facilities, and lounge areas, providing a refined atmosphere that complements the outdoor experience.
