Located in Bréville-sur-Mer in the Normandy region of France, Golf de Granville features two distinct links courses set on the coastal dunes. The primary championship course, Le Links, is an 18-hole layout with a par of 72 and a total distance of 6,132 meters. This course was designed by the renowned architect Harry Shapland Colt and opened in 1912. The second course, Les Dunes, is a 9-hole layout with a par of 33 and a distance of 2,219 meters. Designed by Martin Hawtree, Les Dunes was created in 1986. Colt’s design philosophy for the 18-hole course was rooted in the natural characteristics of the site, aiming to replicate the rugged terrain of seaside dunes. The layout is characterized by undulating terrain, bunkers of varying shapes, and artificial mounds and cavities that mimic the erosion of wind-blown grasses. Colt intended the course to be severe for scratch players while remaining accessible to average golfers. The routing follows his principle of two distinct nine-hole loops, a structure that was innovative for the time. The setting of the golf course is defined by its position atop a dune overlooking the sea. The location offers panoramic views of the town of Granville, its rocky island, the Chausey archipelago, and the extensive beaches of the Normandy coast. On clear days, the Anglo-Norman islands are visible from the course. The facility is situated approximately one hour from the Mont Saint-Michel. The club hosts various competitive events throughout the year, including the Grand Prix de Granville, the Trophée Seniors, and the Classic Mid-Amateurs. The course has a history of hosting team competitions, with the club fielding teams in divisions for both men and women. The facility includes a practice area with 16 posts, a putting green, and a restaurant. The course is open to visitors, with manual carts and motorized buggies permitted on the links.
