GDO Chigasaki Golf Links

神奈川県, Japan

Located in Chigasaki, Kanagawa, GDO Chigasaki Golf Links is a nine-hole public course designed by the renowned architect Osamu Ueda. The layout is a par-36, front nine configuration that spans 2,686 yards from the regular tees. The course is characterized by its flat, seaside terrain, which allows players to enjoy the refreshing coastal winds and the iconic view of Mount Fuji as a borrowed landscape feature. Despite the generally flat ground, the fairways feature subtle undulations, and the design incorporates strategic bunkering and out-of-bounds areas to challenge golfers. The course offers a mix of hole lengths and difficulties, ranging from the short par-3 fourth hole at 118 yards to the lengthy par-5 ninth hole at 492 yards. The first hole presents a short par-4 with a gentle left dogleg, where players are advised to keep their drives short to avoid the OB on the left side. The fifth hole stands as the longest par-4 at 389 yards, favoring a draw ball to navigate its light left dogleg. The ninth hole is a demanding par-5 that narrows significantly after the second shot, requiring precise distance control and line management. Strategic play is essential throughout the round, particularly on the par-3 holes. The second hole features two greens with large bunkers guarding the front, while the eighth hole demands a careful approach to avoid a deep bunker in front of the target. Wind management is a key characteristic of the course, with several holes susceptible to crosswinds that can affect ball flight. The design includes deep greenside bunkers that require skilled short-game execution, reflecting Ueda’s reputation for creating courses with dynamic layouts and strategic hazards. GDO Chigasaki Golf Links operates as a casual public facility that encourages self-play and welcomes same-day reservations. The course supports various playing styles, including nine-hole rounds or a full eighteen-hole loop by playing the front nine twice. This accessibility, combined with the historic design by Ueda, allows golfers to experience a classic seaside layout in a relaxed environment. The course is situated near the Chigasaki Coast Interchange, providing easy access for those looking to play a quick round with scenic coastal views.
