Located in the Finistère region of Brittany, Golf de l'Odet is situated near the coastal town of Bénodet, positioned between the routes to Quimper and Concarneau. The course opened in August 1986 and was designed by Robert Berthet. It occupies a 130-hectare domain characterized by a landscape of wetlands, earthen banks, and broad fairways lined with century-old oaks and pines. The setting is distinctively Breton, blending wooded areas with the typical terrain of the south Finistère coast. The facility comprises two distinct layouts: an 18-hole course with a par of 72 and a compact 9-hole course with a par of 27. The 18-hole layout is described as one of the top courses in the Finistère, offering a variety of challenges. The front nine holes are characterized as short and technical, while the back nine transitions into a wilder framework, providing a strategic finish. The course is designed to accommodate long hitters with its wide fairways, yet it remains demanding for skilled players through its defensive architecture. Greens on the main course are noted for being shallow and protected by bunkers positioned strategically around the putting surfaces. This layout requires players to adopt specific approach angles, adding a layer of tactical complexity. The difficulty is calibrated to challenge good golfers without intimidating average players. The 9-hole course serves as a dedicated area for beginners and children, offering a more accessible introduction to the game within the same grounds. The course is supported by extensive practice facilities, including a driving range with 12 covered posts, a putting green, and a chipping green. Instruction is provided by two teachers who offer individual and group lessons, as well as specialized camps for adults and juniors. The club features a clubhouse housing a proshop stocked with apparel and equipment, alongside a restaurant that provides panoramic views of the golf course. The venue operates year-round, maintaining its grounds and facilities to support both competitive play and recreational golf.
