Shunan Country Club is an 18-hole, par-72 course located in Yataba, Shunan City, Yamaguchi Prefecture. Designed by Yasohachi Fukui, the course is set across 1,000,000 square meters of gentle hills with a total elevation change of 20 meters. The layout is situated just two minutes from the Kumage Interchange on the Sanyo Expressway. The course features a 300-yard driving range with 17 hitting bays, as well as separate approach and bunker practice areas. The course offers two distinct sets of tees depending on the playing surface. The Bermuda grass configuration measures 7,057 yards from the back tees, while the Bentgrass configuration measures 7,050 yards. The JGA Course Rating is 74.5 for the Bentgrass setup and 74.2 for the Bermuda setup. The front nine totals 3,553 yards on the Bentgrass tees, and the back nine measures 3,504 yards. The design emphasizes a variety of hole lengths and challenges. The back nine features two par-5s, the 11th at 514 yards and the 15th at 546 yards from the back tees. The 13th is a short par-3 measuring 164 yards. The course is known for its "unadorned beauty," with wide fairways and a layout that avoids consecutive holes of the same par. Shunan Country Club has a significant history of hosting official tournaments since its opening in 1966. Notable events include the Japan Women's Amateur Golf Championship in 1984, the All Japan Student Golf Championship in 1974 and 1982, and the Chugoku-Shikoku Amateur Golf Championship in 1977 and 1985. The course has also hosted the Japan Professional Golf Championship first qualifying rounds in 2018 and 2019, as well as the LPGA Legends Championship in 2017. More recently, it has served as the venue for the JLPGA Step-Up Tour Yamaguchi Shunan Ladies Cup.
