Pine Beach East

Brainerd, MN, United States

Pine Beach East is a historic 18-hole golf course designed by renowned Scottish architect James Dalgleish in 1926. Located at Madden's on Gull Lake near Brainerd, Minnesota, the course showcases traditional Scottish charm while featuring modern enhancements including rebuilt greens, refined bunkering, and natural fescue grass. The course plays to 6,101 yards at a 69.1 rating with 118 slope from the back tees, and 5,401 yards at 70.9 rating from the forward tees. Pine Beach East is notably home to Minnesota's only Par 6, a challenging 618-yard hole that offers eagle opportunities for skilled players. The course presents moderate difficulty with strategic design elements that reward proper execution. The stretch comprising holes 14 through 16 stands out as particularly compelling, featuring two reachable par 5s and a driveable par 4 that demand both courage and precision. The venue hosts the annual Memorial Day Parent-Child Tournament, a family tradition welcoming golfers of all skill levels. The course's lakeside setting on Gull Lake provides scenic appeal alongside its well-maintained playing surfaces.
