Saffron Walden Golf Club

Saffron Walden, Essex, England

Saffron Walden Golf Club is an 18-hole course set in the picturesque surroundings of Audley End's famous mansion in Essex, with superb views over the historic market town of Saffron Walden. The layout is described as a thinking course that rewards strategic play rather than aggressive driving, with challenging greens that become particularly difficult when pins are positioned tucked away. The course features several notable holes. The par-3 5th is the signature hole, played from an elevated tee offering excellent views towards Audley End House. Other standout par-3s include the 7th with its pot bunker and the 11th featuring a very narrow green. The par-4 13th requires a draw off the tee and presents a challenging approach to a ridge-crossed green. The 18th, a par-3 finishing hole, is considered a strong closing hole. The course is not overly long but presents significant challenge through its design and green complexity. The club also offers a 140-person capacity clubhouse with bar and catering facilities, along with conference and function rooms overlooking the 18th green.
