TakaGawa Nishi Tokushima Golf Club is an 18-hole, par-72 course located in Tokushima, approximately 45 minutes from the city center and just 5 kilometers from the Wakimachi Interchange on the Tokushima Expressway. Opened on September 18, 1978, the layout was designed by Jiro Terada. The course is characterized by a relatively flat terrain with short to medium service distances, offering a playing experience that balances straightforward navigation with precise shot-making. The facility features Bentgrass greens and accommodates both caddie-assisted and self-play styles. The front nine presents a mix of accessible holes and strategic challenges. The opening hole is a par-5 that runs alongside the adjacent Tsuchibashi Course, requiring a precise drive to avoid left-side OB while targeting a central fairway marked by three pines. The fourth hole is a demanding par-3 that plays over a valley, where winter winds make distance control difficult and hooks are penalized. The seventh hole, a straight par-4, offers a downhill tee shot onto a flat landing area, setting up an approach to a green that slopes from right to left. The ninth hole is a par-5 dogleg left that requires a carry over a fairway bunker, with a green protected by bunkers on both sides and in the right rear. The back nine introduces more varied terrain and water hazards. The tenth hole is a par-4 that plays over a valley, featuring a two-tiered green that slopes slightly to the right. The twelfth hole is a signature par-3 that plays over a pond, offering scenic views but demanding a precise tee shot to avoid the water; a safe approach from the flower path before the pond is often the better strategy. The thirteenth hole is a par-4 with pine trees lining the left side and the pond on the right, requiring accuracy off the tee due to the narrow fairway. The eighteenth hole, a par-5, finishes with an uphill second shot toward a pine tree, leading to a green that slopes away from the back, making approach distance critical. The course yardages vary by tee, with the back tees measuring 5,344 yards for men and 3,270 yards for women, while the front tees range from 2,519 to 3,093 yards. The handicap distribution highlights the most challenging holes as the 17th (par-3, HDCP 1), the 2nd (par-4, HDCP 2), and the 18th (par-5, HDCP 3). The facility accepts major credit cards and offers rental clubs and shoes, catering to both local members and visiting golfers seeking a manageable yet strategic round in the Tokushima region.
