The 2026 South Open Competition (MOP) is an open golf competition held at Edosaki Country Club's South Course. The event takes place on multiple dates throughout 2026, including August 6, 2026. Guest entry fee is 13,000 JPY (including consumption tax and golf course fee) with member fee at 11,000 JPY. The August 6 entry fee includes lunch (limited menu, with option to upgrade to other menus at additional cost). Participation is open to all with no restrictions. Players use 5-seater self-play carts with fairway use permitted (subject to weather conditions). The competition is played as a half-round Parry format with same-net scoring, age-up priority for ties, and a maximum handicap of 18. Men play from white tees, women from red tees, and players aged 80 and above may use gold tees. Prizes are awarded to 1st through 10th place, plus long drive and booby prizes. Consolation prizes such as seasonal vegetables are provided to all non-winning participants. Scores are distributed after the round; no party or award ceremony is held. Edosaki Country Club is a 36-hole facility located in Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan, situated just 3 kilometers from the Inashiki Interchange on the Kan-etsu Expressway. The club, which has a 60-year history, is divided into two distinct 18-hole courses: the East Course and the South Course. The East Course is characterized by its strategic design enveloped in a red pine forest, while the South Course offers a more open layout that caters to a wide range of skill levels. The East Course features two different green surfaces, the East A and East B greens, which alter the yardage and difficulty of the 72-hole layout. The East A configuration, utilizing the new greens, plays to a par of 72 with a total yardage of 6,346 meters from the white tees. The East B configuration, featuring bentgrass greens, offers a slightly shorter total yardage of 6,206 meters from the same tees. Both versions of the East Course include five par 5s and five par 3s, with the longest hole being the 10th at 494 meters on the A course and the 10th at 499 meters on the B course. The South Course also provides two distinct playing experiences based on the green surface used. The South A layout, played from the white tees, measures 6,284 meters with a par of 72. The South B layout is slightly shorter at 6,124 meters from the white tees, also set at par 72. The South Course features a mix of par 3s, 4s, and 5s, with the longest hole being the 13th at 490 meters on both configurations. The course is designed to be accessible to beginners while still offering strategic challenges for advanced players. The club maintains a strong tradition of competitive golf, hosting various annual events such as the East Open, South Open, and the Elder Cup. The facility is equipped with a clubhouse, restaurant, and practice areas, and offers cart access on the East Course.
