Tomakomai Golf Resort 72 Emina Golf Club

北海道, Japan

Tomakomai Golf Resort 72 in Tomakomai, Hokkaido, comprises four distinct 18-hole courses: the Emina South, Emina West, Emina East, and Iris courses. The Emina South Course, a 7,020-yard, par-72 layout, is the resort's premier championship venue. It features bentgrass greens and Kentucky bluegrass fairways and rough, and has hosted the 1993–1994 PGA Tour Nikkei Cup and the 2007–2009 LPGA Axa Ladies Tournament. The course is known for its 7th hole, a par-3 water hazard where shifting wind conditions challenge approach shots, and long-distance holes such as the 4th and 17th. The Emina West Course, measuring 6,877 yards from the back tees, is a self-play layout equipped with GPS-enabled carts. It hosted the 1994 Hokkaido Professional Golf Championship and numerous amateur events. Its signature 11th hole is a demanding par-3 downhill shot that requires careful management of changing wind patterns. The course also features long par-5s, including the 5th and 14th holes, which are recommended for driving distance challenges. The Emina East Course, at 7,051 yards, is designed as an athlete's course with a high volume of long-distance holes. It previously hosted the 1990 and 1992 Nikkei Cup and the 2004 HTB Senior Classic. The 18th hole, a par-5 with a water hazard guarding the front of the green, has been the site of dramatic moments in professional tournament play. The course's 3rd and 13th holes are noted for their length, catering to players seeking to test their driving power. The Iris Course offers a more accessible 6,541-yard layout with shorter hole distances, designed for beginners and casual play. It hosted the HTB Senior Classic from 1995 to 2003. The 6th hole, a par-3, is noted for its aesthetic design reminiscent of the 16th hole at Augusta National, though it contains subtle hazards that can catch unwary golfers off guard. All four courses utilize bentgrass greens and Kentucky bluegrass for fairways and tees, providing a consistent playing surface across the resort.
