Kanmon Kikugawa GC

山口県, Japan

Located in Shimonoseki, Yamaguchi Prefecture, Kanmon Kikugawa Golf Club is an 18-hole, par-72 course designed by Hajime Tanaka. The layout is situated on elevated terrain offering views of the Kanmon Strait, a setting that influences the strategic demands of the round. The course is characterized as a hilly layout with a distinct split in difficulty between the front and back nine. The front nine is generally shorter and more forgiving, designed to allow golfers to accumulate pars, while the back nine presents a greater challenge with numerous dogleg holes that require precise driving. The course features a variety of hole types, including uphill and downhill shots, as well as carries over water and valleys. The back nine is particularly noted for its demanding nature, featuring the 11th hole, a par-5 that requires a carry over a pond, and the 17th hole, a par-5 tee shot played from an elevated tee box with panoramic views of the strait. The 13th hole is a short par-3 that is considered one of the more difficult holes on the course due to its high difficulty rating. The front nine includes a par-3 eighth hole played downhill over a valley, providing a contrast to the longer, more technical holes found later in the round. Kanmon Kikugawa Golf Club is equipped with night golf facilities, allowing for play from day into the evening. The course design caters to a wide range of skill levels, from beginners to advanced players, with tee boxes adjusted for men’s regular, men’s long, and ladies’ play. The total yardage from the men’s regular tees is approximately 5,947 yards, while the men’s long tees extend to 6,017 yards. The course rate is listed at 70.4 for the long tees and 66.9 for the regular tees. The facility also includes a practice range and hosts regular local tournaments, such as the Kikugawa Masters Cup.
