Omura Bay Country Club

Located in Omura City, Nagasaki Prefecture, Omura Bay Country Club features two distinct 18-hole courses designed to offer contrasting playing experiences. The Old Course is a 72-par layout that winds through a landscape defined by Mount Gunma and views of the Noigatake Lake and Omura Bay. Characterized by wide fairways and a rolling terrain, the course is designed for a traditional round played with caddies, offering a mix of downhill and level holes that reward accuracy over distance. The layout includes a demanding 475-yard par-4 at the 7th and a 533-yard par-5 at the 15th, while the 18th hole serves as a finishing challenge with a straight approach toward the bay. The New Course presents an American-style layout that encourages the use of motorized carts and a more relaxed pace of play. Also a 72-par course, it features strategic water hazards and distinct landscaping, including elaborate garden work around the 12th and 13th greens. The opening hole, a 443-yard par-4 named "Rubicon," requires a tee shot over a creek, setting a strategic tone for the round. The course includes a 593-yard par-5 9th hole and a 510-yard par-5 12th, known as "Eden," which plays over water to a green protected by azalea plantings. The New Course also features shorter par-3s, including a 158-yard 6th and a 168-yard 13th, providing variety in distance and difficulty. The club hosts various amateur competitions, including qualifying events for the Kyushu Senior Championship and the Nagasaki Prefecture Senior and Ladies Golf Championships. These tournaments attract players from across the region, utilizing both courses for different age and skill divisions. The facility supports these events with dedicated club competitions and serves as a venue for regional golfing associations, maintaining a history of competitive play within the local golf community.
