Chukyo Golf Club's Ishino Course is an 18-hole, par 72 layout located in Toyohashi, Aichi Prefecture, Japan. The course spans 6,495 yards from the regular tees and is set within a landscape that incorporates views of the Southern Alps and the Mt. Ena range. Established during the Heisei era, the course has matured over more than twenty years, offering a mix of open fairways and wooded sections that challenge players with strategic shot-making requirements. The front nine presents a variety of challenges, starting with a 402-yard par 4 that demands a full shot to a fairway with subtle undulations. The third hole is a downhill par 3 where the green is surrounded by bunkers and water, featuring a three-tiered surface that can deceive approach shots. The fifth hole offers a 530-yard test with views of the distant mountains, where a central bunker guards the middle of the fairway and a large green with 40 meters of depth requires precise iron play. The front nine concludes with a par 4 that plays back toward the clubhouse, where a water hazard and deep rough penalize errant drives. The back nine begins with a dramatic downhill tee shot on the tenth hole, followed by a short par 4 where the green is framed by a 200-year-old cedar tree that affects distance perception. The twelfth hole is widely considered the most difficult on the course, a long par 4 that requires both a powerful drive and a difficult second shot to a green protected by bunkers on the right side. The fourteenth hole is a 530-yard par 5 that rewards aggressive play for those who can navigate the fairway bunkers, while the seventeenth hole is a pivotal par 4 where the green is surrounded by bunkers and a water hazard at the back, testing a player's nerve in the final stages of the round. The eighteenth hole is a dramatic finishing hole where a creek flows through the fairway. Players must navigate bunkers on the tee shot and carry the creek with their second shot to reach the green, with an alternative route available for long hitters. The course features a mix of sand and grass bunkers, with greens that often feature subtle undulations and tiered surfaces. The layout is designed to reward accurate ball-striking and strategic course management, with hazards positioned to penalize both short and overly aggressive shots.
