Mauritzbergs Slott & Golf is an 18-hole parkland and forest course located in Norrköping, Sweden, situated on the shores of the Bråviken bay. The course is characterized by its varied terrain, which incorporates diverse natural elements including ponds, streams, and dense woodlands. Designed to be an easy-to-walk layout, the course features strategically placed bunkers and undulating greens that require precision and tactical planning from golfers. The setting offers views of the water and surrounding blue forests, with the historic Mauritzberg Manor House serving as a prominent backdrop to the golfing experience. The course layout is defined by its integration with the natural landscape, where each hole possesses a distinct character due to the shifting environment. The first tee is elevated, requiring a climb from the clubhouse, and offers a wide, open fairway framed by an oak slope and pine forest. The design includes significant water hazards, such as the fourth hole, which plays to a green on a peninsula over water, and the tenth hole, which demands a carry over water to reach the fairway. The course also features challenging passages through narrow corridors of trees, such as the fifth hole, and strategic bunkering that catches errant shots, particularly on the long, straight sixth hole which overlooks the bay. Mauritzberg’s golf course opened for play in 2010, with the final 18 holes completed that year after an initial phase of nine holes opened in 2009. The resort’s development, overseen by Finnish designer Kaisa Blomstedt, has focused on maintaining the natural beauty of the site while providing a challenging test for golfers. The course has hosted various competitions, including the Skandia Tour Riks in 2015 and the Swedish Championship week in Östergötland, indicating its standing in the regional golf calendar. The facility includes a modern clubhouse with a bistro, locker rooms, and a practice area, catering to both members and visitors seeking a scenic round of golf in the Östergötland region.
