Kobe Sanda Golf Club

兵庫県, Japan

Located in Sanda City, Hyogo Prefecture, Kobe Sanda Golf Club is a 27-hole facility established in 1967 and significantly renovated in 2015. The course is divided into two nine-hole loops, the Out and In courses, which together offer a total of 54 holes. The layout is characterized by a flat terrain separated by pine forests, designed in a style that evokes the soft curves of the English countryside and the characteristics of Old Scottish links. The renovation replaced the original greens with Bentgrass and adjusted the layout to increase strategic complexity, adding ponds and bunkers throughout the property. The Out Course presents a mix of long par fives and technical par fours. Hole 1 is a 497-yard dogleg-right par five that requires precise positioning off the tee to avoid a right-side bunker. Hole 3 is a 165-yard par three that demands a carry over water, with out-of-bounds areas lining the left side. The front nine concludes with Hole 9, a 560-yard par five that serves as a primary driving distance hole, requiring a safe drive to avoid right-side hazards before approaching a shallow green. The In Course features several challenging short holes and long par fives. Hole 11 is a 185-yard par three played over a valley to a two-tiered green. Hole 13 is a blind, uphill 158-yard par three where the green is obscured from the tee. The back nine is anchored by long par fives, including Hole 17 at 533 yards and Hole 18 at 573 yards. Hole 16 is a 501-yard par five that finishes with an uphill approach to a green protected by water on the right. The course is rated at 6,077 yards from the regular tees with a course rating of 68.2 and a slope of 129. The back tees extend the length to 6,352 yards with a rating of 69.5. The facility encourages the use of back tees for groups with a combined handicap of 60 or less, provided they do not slow play. Strategic play is emphasized, with specific holes recommended for distance challenges, such as Holes 1, 9, 17, and 18, and others for precision iron play, including Holes 3, 5, 11, and 15.
