Happy Valley Golf Club Sapporo is a 27-hole championship facility located in Tōbetsu, Ishikari District, Hokkaido. The course, which spans 1.35 million square meters, was designed by Ronald Fream and opened on June 24, 1991. It is laid out to take advantage of the natural terrain and trees, with mounds connecting the fairways to the rough and undulations on the greens creating a continuous flow that reflects the natural landscape of Hokkaido. The course is planted with Bent grass and offers a total yardage of 10,073 yards with a par of 108. The facility consists of three distinct nine-hole loops: the Dateyama, Aoyama, and Kanazawa courses. The Dateyama course features a par 36 front nine and a par 36 back nine, with the back nine highlighted by a 564-yard 6th hole and a 437-yard 9th hole. The Aoyama course also plays to par 36, featuring a demanding 539-yard 1st hole and a 551-yard 6th hole. The Kanazawa course rounds out the layout with a par 36, including a 549-yard 8th hole and a 466-yard 9th hole. Each nine offers multiple tee options, allowing for varied yardages and handicap distributions. The course has served as a venue for the Hokkaido Amateur Golf Championship qualification rounds. It is recognized as one of the premium golf courses in Japan, having been selected in the 2026 Japan Brand Collection. The club also features a hotel, The Lodge, and a clubhouse designed with stone and glass motifs, providing hospitality services for visitors and members alike.
