Strathmore Golf Centre

Strathmore Golf Centre is a 27-hole facility located at Leroch, near Alyth in the Strathmore valley, Perthshire, Scotland, overlooking the surrounding countryside towards Blairgowrie. The centre opened in 1996 and comprises two courses: the 18-hole Rannaleroch Course and the nine-hole Leitfie Links. The Rannaleroch Course, the main layout, was designed by John Salvesen — a former R&A Captain who also designed Charleton and Elmwood in Fife — and plays to par 72 over 6,454 yards (SSS 72). Built in a minimalist style with little earth moved, the course uses the naturally rolling former farmland to create varied terrain. Wide fairways and large, undulating greens characterise the layout, which routes as two returning nine-hole loops. The par-3 4th and 17th both play from elevated tees with views across the valley, while the signature hole is the par-5 5th, a dogleg played from an elevated tee requiring a carry over a pond. The course opens and closes with par fives, with only three holes playing uphill, making it physically undemanding despite the natural contours. It won Scotland's Best Golf Course in the Under £75 category at the Scottish Golf Tourism Awards 2022. The Leitfie Links is a compact nine-hole layout of par 29 over around 1,666 yards, comprising seven par threes, suited to beginners and warm-up rounds. No notable professional tournament history is associated with the facility.
