Morris Williams Golf Course

Austin, TX, United States

The Morris Williams Golf Course is a public 18-hole facility located at 3851 Manor Road in Austin, Texas, situated east of downtown. Designed by architect Leon Howard and opening in 1964 as the city's third public course, the layout features rolling terrain and elevated, contoured greens. The course offers views of the Austin skyline and includes practice facilities consisting of a driving range and putting green. The course has a significant history with the University of Texas golf team, which used the facility as its home under legendary coach George Hannon. During this tenure, the Longhorns won two NCAA Championships with teams featuring Tom Kite and Ben Crenshaw. The course is named for Morris Williams Jr., a prominent local golfer who won the Texas Junior Championship and the National Air Force Trophy before his death in a jet plane crash during the Korean War. The facility operates with a maintenance schedule that includes closures on the second Monday of each month, as well as specific dates for aeration and overseeding. Tee times can be reserved in person, by phone, or online, with specific windows for weekday and weekend bookings.
