Casterton Golf Course is located in the Lune Valley near Kirkby Lonsdale in South Cumbria, overlooking the market town with spectacular views across the Yorkshire Dales, Lakeland Fells, and down the Lune Valley toward the Lancashire Coast.
The nine-hole main course measures 5,802 yards and is a Par 70 layout, comprising 2 Par 3s, 6 Par 4s, and 1 Par 5. The design utilizes naturally undulating parkland terrain with rocky outcrops, providing character and challenge for golfers of all abilities. The limestone bedrock ensures excellent drainage, making the course playable year-round and contributing to its reputation for excellent green standards.
Individual holes feature distinctive characteristics, including strategically placed bunkers, doglegs, blind shots, and elevated greens that demand accuracy. Notable holes include the opening Par 4 at 427 yards, which requires clearing a bank before reaching a fairway curving right toward the out-of-bounds, and Hole 4, a 355-yard uphill Par 4 with a blind tee shot leading to a raised green guarded by deep bunkers.
The course has operated for over 60 years and has undergone recent improvements and extensions. The facility also offers a Par 3 course, driving range, and simulator studio.
