Founded in 1889, West Cornwall Golf Club is the oldest existing golf course in Cornwall. Located in Lelant near St. Ives, the course overlooks St Ives Bay and Hayle Estuary, offering superb coastal views. The links-style layout benefits from the natural terrain and provides excellent playing conditions throughout the year, with railway tracks running alongside the course.
The club has a rich golfing heritage, serving as the home club of 'Long' Jim Barnes, a four-time major championship winner. More recently, it has produced notable amateur talent including Walker Cup players Philip Rowe (1999) and Harry Hall (2019). Harry Hall has progressed to the USPGA Tour and qualified for all major championships in 2026.
The course features links land characteristic of the Cornish coast, providing challenging and authentic golf. The club welcomes both members and visitors, offering comprehensive facilities including a pro shop with coaching services, restaurant, and bar. Society and corporate golf days are accommodated with full clubhouse support, making it a versatile venue for group play.
