The Burglars is a fun 9-hole Stableford competition held every Thursday afternoon at RAAF Darwin Golf Club. Players compete on either the front or back nine, alternating each week. The entry fee is $10 AUD for members and $20 AUD for non-members (which includes green fees). The fee covers the competition, NTP prizes, and a raffle. Players scoring 18 points or above win a chook (chicken). If you're not great at golf, you could still win one in the raffle! Full bar facilities are available. Tee-off times are between 2:00pm and 4:30pm every Thursday, and no booking is required. The event is open to non-members and players without handicaps. RAAF Darwin Golf Club is a picturesque and challenging 9-hole course with 18 tee blocks. The course was built in 1970. It is the premier Defence golf course in the Top End, providing golfing facilities for all members of the ADF community. The course has a par of 69, plays to 5442 yards, and has a slope rating of 105. The course is open to members of the public for both competition and social play and provides a good opportunity for members of the ADF to interact with the wider community in a golfing and social setting. Volunteers constructed the course from humble beginnings into the high quality nine hole layout that exists today. The layout presents a moderate challenge for golfers of varying skill levels, with well-maintained fairways and carefully designed greens. The club is run and maintained by dedicated volunteers, with the course itself always open (weather permitting) but the clubhouse may not always be staffed.
