Golf de Vittel Ermitage

Grand Est, France

Golf de Vittel Ermitage is located in the Vosges region of France and comprises two courses. The original 18-hole course was designed by English architect Charles Alison, beginning with 9 holes in 1905 on the Mont-Saint-Jean hillside. It was expanded to 18 holes in 1920, coinciding with the construction of the Art Deco Ermitage hotel. The course features rolling terrain with fairways that climb and descend with natural slopes, long holes across all par levels, and well-protected greens that are often elevated and sloping. Former steeplechase obstacles are incorporated into the layout as visual markers on several doglegs. The second course, Peulin, was added in 1986 and was designed by Claude Bégin. Located adjacent to the hippodrome, it features a flatter layout with tree-lined holes that define the fairways, making it more accessible to seniors and beginners while still presenting scoring challenges. Both courses are situated within the spa town of Vittel, reflecting a golfing tradition linked to thermal tourism since the late 19th century.
