Seaton Carew Golf Club gb

County Durham, United Kingdom

Seaton Carew Golf Club, historically known as the Durham and Yorkshire Club, is England's tenth-oldest golf course and ranks among the first fifty clubs ever founded worldwide. This storied links course was redesigned in the mid-1920s by renowned architect Dr. Alister MacKenzie, making it one of the few championship links courses he directly influenced. The course uniquely features 22 holes, allowing for varying layouts and configurations. In the 1970s, four additional holes known as the Brabazon Loop were created to preserve club land while expanding playing options. Set in a traditional links landscape, Seaton Carew presents a challenging yet fair test of golf that appeals to players of all abilities, reflecting MacKenzie's design philosophy. As a true championship links course, Seaton Carew has hosted numerous national and international amateur events throughout its history. The course demands precision and strategic play, characteristic of authentic seaside links golf. Located in Hartlepool, the club combines historical significance with genuine competitive challenge, offering an authentic links experience rooted in British golfing heritage.
