Royal Belfast Golf Club

County Down, Northern Ireland

Royal Belfast Golf Club is Ireland's oldest golf club, established in 1881, and holds the prestigious "Royal" designation as one of only three such courses in Northern Ireland. Located in Craigavad, Holywood, the course measures 6,309 yards and emphasizes precision over power. The layout features strategically placed bunkers and subtly contoured, lightning-fast greens that demand both skill and strategy, making it suitable for golfers of all abilities. The course has been recognized as IGTOA Parkland Golf Course of the Year and Best Parkland Golf Course in Ulster by the Golfer's Guide to Ireland. The setting provides one of Ireland's most picturesque backdrops. Royal Belfast's Victorian clubhouse, originally built in 1852, was honoured as Clubhouse of the Year 2024 by the Golfer's Guide to Ireland. The club benefits from its strategic location between Royal Portrush and Royal County Down, making it an essential destination on touring golfers' itineraries, particularly following The Open Championship's return to Northern Ireland.
