Glencruitten Golf Club

Argyll and Bute, Scotland

Glencruitten Golf Club is a James Braid-designed course nestled in the hills of Glencruitten Estate on the outskirts of Oban, Argyll, Scotland. The par-62 layout features significant changes in elevation and includes several blind shots that challenge golfers of all abilities. The course winds through mature woodland, including two protected native Scots Pine specimens from the ancient Caledonian Forest, and offers diverse wildlife viewing opportunities including buzzards, pheasants, herons, and deer. Seasonal flora including harebells and yellow whins add aesthetic appeal throughout spring and early summer. The 4th hole is notable for sitting atop a vitrified Roman fort, a listed ancient monument. The greens and fairways are maintained to championship standard by an experienced greenkeeping team. The club features a renovated clubhouse, practice facilities including a three-bay driving range and putting green, and serves as the home club of Ryder Cup winner Robert MacIntyre, who developed his skills on this course. The combination of strategic design, natural beauty, and challenging terrain makes Glencruitten a respected test of golf on Scotland's west coast.
