Quail Ridge Golf Course is an 18-hole public course just south of Baker City. The course features 5,994 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 70. The original 9 holes were built in 1936 by the WPA, and the second 9 was built in 1999. The two designers of the course are George Junor and Bill Robinson. The older holes in the area next to the clubhouse are flat, generally short, narrow, and tree-lined, while the newer holes are very open and longer, undulating, with more traps and water. The course provides pristine views of the Elkhorn mountains to the west and the Wallowa mountain range to the east. Overall the course is somewhat short and well maintained, with good views of the Blue Mountains. The course rating is 70.0 and it has a slope rating of 118 on Blue grass. The course is a little hilly, but okay to walk. Annual charity events include the Pat Clubb Memorial Golf Tournament providing scholarships to Blue Mountain Community College and the Blackers Memorial to benefit various non-profits in Baker County. In the summer, the course hosts evening concerts and annually hosts Quailfest featuring local bands and crafts. It is the home course for Baker City High School.
