Ardeer Golf Club

North Ayrshire, Scotland

Ardeer Golf Club is a tree-lined parkland course located in Stevenston, North Ayrshire, offering fantastic views of the Firth of Clyde. Founded in 1880, it is one of Ayrshire's oldest clubs. The current course was established in 1905 on land originally owned by Imperial Chemicals Industries (ICI), replacing the original nine-hole links layout. The course features well-maintained parkland design with modern facilities including a fully licensed clubhouse, catering services, locker rooms, and showers. A state-of-the-art golf simulator is available for practice and play in all weather conditions. The club welcomes visitors and offers trolley and buggy hire for those preferring not to carry clubs. Ardeer boasts historical significance through notable members including Jamie Anderson, a three-time Open Championship winner (1877-1879), and Willie Fernie, the 1883 Open Champion and designer of the Ailsa course at Turnberry. The club maintains active sections for ladies, juniors, and gents, fostering competitive and recreational play. The course presents a challenging but fair test of golf, with members and visitors praising its picturesque setting and strategic layout. The 9th hole is noted as a particularly testing par 4.
