Shepparton Golf Club

Victoria, Australia

Shepparton Golf Club is an 18-hole championship course located on Golf Drive in Shepparton, Victoria, designed by golf course architect Sam Berriman and opened in 1959. The course was developed across approximately 88 acres of Crown land combined with purchased adjoining properties, situated on the right-hand sandbank of the Goulburn River, approximately two and a half miles from town. The course features grass greens throughout, with a comprehensive replacement program completed in 1999. Key infrastructure includes a modern irrigation system upgraded in 2006, incorporating a bore and dam on the 16th fairway to supplement water from the Goulburn River. The clubhouse has been progressively upgraded, including major renovations following a 2014 fire and extensive expansions completed in 2008. The club has produced notable golfers, including Jarrod Lyle who turned professional in 2005 and his brother Leighton, who won the Victorian Amateur Championships in 2008. Additional facilities include a 12-unit motel complex, bowling green with lighting, and a pro shop. The course is set within a landscape featuring tree plantification programs initiated in the 1930s, contributing to its picturesque setting.
