Forest Hills Golf Club

Gloucestershire, England

Forest Hills Golf Club is an 18-hole, par 72 parkland course measuring 6,412 yards, situated near Coleford in the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire. The course was originally designed in 1990 by Adrian Stiff as a par 68 layout, making full use of the natural land features of the site. In 1998, additional land was acquired and designer Brian Griffiths was commissioned to create five new holes, extending the course to its current par 72 championship length. Part of this work incorporated a new lake on the site of a former medieval lake that had long since disappeared. The course occupies hilly terrain within the Forest of Dean, with significant elevation changes throughout that reward accurate positioning over raw distance. The layout features two loops of nine holes, with both the 1st and 10th tees positioned adjacent to the clubhouse. Mature trees frame the majority of holes, and a number of doglegs and blind approach shots add tactical complexity. Panoramic views extend over the old market town of Coleford and towards the hills of Herefordshire from several points on the course. The 18th hole is a notable finisher, with an approach played over water in full view of the clubhouse terrace. The course is widely regarded for its exceptional drainage, allowing permanent greens and tees to remain in use throughout the year. It has been recognised by the PGA and Gloucestershire County as a regional events venue, hosting county matches and the Forest Classic invitational tournament drawing players from across the surrounding counties.
