Golf du Bassin Bleu is a par 71 course measuring just under 6,000 meters, designed by architect Robert Berthet. Located in Saint-Gilles-Les-Hauts, Réunion, the course is situated at 300 meters elevation on the north side of the Saint-Gilles ravine, which serves as a prominent landscape feature and strategic obstacle throughout the layout. The course presents distinctly different playing characteristics between the outbound and return nines. The opening holes ascend through century-old eucalyptus trees, demanding precision from players. The closing holes of the front nine and the entire back nine offer spectacular ocean views. While the design is notably technical with trees bordering the rough and ravines requiring strategic navigation—particularly on hole 13—the course has been made increasingly accessible to all skill levels through ongoing greenkeeping efforts. As a tropical course, Bassin Bleu exhibits seasonal variations: lush vegetation during humid season punctuated by exceptional flamboyant trees, and drier conditions during summer.
