Royal Musselburgh Golf Club is the sixth oldest golf course in the world, established in 1774 on the East Lothian coast near Musselburgh, Scotland. Designed by renowned architect James Braid, the course features 18 holes set in a picturesque parkland landscape at the beginning of Scotland's famous Golf Coast stretch of courses. The layout showcases Braid's characteristic design philosophy, with the course complemented by a 300-yard driving range, short game practice area, and a six-hole short course. The club holds Royal status, one of only 66 courses worldwide with this distinction, and is a member of the James Braid Association of courses worldwide. Royal Musselburgh has hosted significant competitive events, including the USKG European Championships. The club is particularly notable for holding the Old Club Cup, dating to 1774, which remains the oldest trophy still competitively played for in the world. The club's heritage is further enriched by its connection to early Scottish golf history, as the original 9-hole Musselburgh Levenhall links also hosted the Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers, Royal Burgess Golfing Society, and Bruntsfield Golf Club. The clubhouse, housed in a 16th-century building, provides an elegant setting befitting the course's historic significance and prestigious status in global golf.
