Designed by W.B. Lewis, Bald Mountain Golf Course is an 18-hole, par-72 layout measuring 6,283 yards with a course rating of 70.9 and slope rating of 128. Located in Lake Lure, North Carolina, the course features a distinctive configuration of five par 5s and five par 3s—an uncommon design that offers a unique challenge.
The course is characterized by small greens, narrow tree-lined fairways, and terrain where all putts naturally break toward Bald Mountain. Four sets of tees accommodate various skill levels. Notable holes include the 496-yard opening par 5 and the 479-yard 18th hole, both three-shotters. Hole 16, a par 3, gained fame as a filming location for the movie "Dirty Dancing."
Rated among North Carolina's top courses by Golf Channel's Golf Advisor, Bald Mountain was designed by W.B. Lewis, a protégé of George Cobb (architect of Augusta National's par-3 course). The course operates seasonally from early January through early November and provides a challenging yet rewarding mountain golf experience distinct from its sister course, Apple Valley.
