The Geraldine District Golf Course is an 18-hole par 71 layout known as the Denfield Course, measuring 5,544 metres from the white tees. Located at Orari Back Road in South Canterbury, the course is situated on undulating river flats adjoining the Orari River, offering easy walking conditions and panoramic views of nearby mountains. Despite its relatively short length, the course presents a worthy challenge through astute tree plantings and numerous dog-leg holes that test golfers of all abilities. The course record stands at 64, set by Jason Leary in both 1989 and 2002. From the white tees, the course carries a NZCR of 69.1 with a slope rating of 113, while the yellow tees measure 5,073 metres at par 72 with a NZCR of 71.7 and slope rating of 114. Notable features include strategically placed trees, bunkers, ridges, and swales throughout the layout. Signature holes include the Orient (hole 13), which features a gentle left-hand dog-leg with an encroaching tree line, and the Riverside (hole 14), distinguished by a steep ridge that funnels wayward shots toward a bunker. The course design emphasizes strategic shot-making and course management across its varied terrain.
