Whitley Bay Golf Club, founded in 1890, is located near the Northumberland coastline in North East England and is considered one of the region's premier golf courses. Designed by 1912 Open Champion Ted Ray, the course features undulating terrain with both parkland and heathland characteristics. The layout is distinguished by fast, true greens maintained to an exceptional standard, and subtly contoured putting surfaces recognized internationally for their quality. The course presents a challenging test for golfers of all abilities, with its demanding terrain and strategic design. Situated just a few hundred yards from the coast, the course has hosted numerous prestigious golfers throughout its history, including Harry Vardon, James Braid, Seve Ballesteros, Nick Faldo, Lee Trevino, and Greg Norman. The club provides a comprehensive experience beyond the course itself, featuring a warm clubhouse available for private hire and professional instruction through its PGA Professional.
