Ballumbie Castle Golf Course is an 18-hole parkland course located on the outskirts of Dundee, set within beautiful rolling terrain offering views of the surrounding countryside. The course measures 5,184 yards with a par of 67, opened in June 2000, and has undergone refinements including green relocations, additional bunkers, and matured tree plantings that define the layout.
Despite its modest length and par, the course presents considerable challenge through strategic design. Twelve holes feature out-of-bounds, and most holes are doglegs where positional accuracy from the tee is prioritized over distance. The greens are notably quick with subtle breaks. The opening six holes are particularly demanding, followed by holes 11-14, known as "Ballumbie's Amen Corner," which form another testing stretch.
The varied terrain requires use of most clubs in the bag, with drivers often unnecessary, particularly on the opening holes. The course accommodates both casual play and club outings, featuring a clubhouse with food and beverage facilities, locker rooms, showers, and an adjacent Toptracer driving range. The layout has matured well since its opening, with no two holes identical in character.
