Robert Trent Jones Trail
Opelika, AL, United States
RTJ Golf Trail at Grand National is a 54-hole championship golf facility located in Auburn/Opelika, Alabama on 600-acre Lake Saugahatchee. The complex comprises three courses: the Links Course, recently renovated with new tees, bunkers, and TifEagle Ultradwarf greens; the Lake Course featuring 12 lakefront holes and a signature 230-yard island green 15th hole; and an 18-hole Short Course of par 3s with over half the holes touching the lake.
Designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr., who called it "the single greatest natural site for golf" he had ever seen, Grand National has been voted the #1 public golf facility in America by Golf World readers. The course is distinguished by its scenic lakefront setting with 32 of 54 holes along the water's edge.
Grand National has hosted prestigious tournaments including NCAA Division I National Championships, LPGA Tour events, Symetra Tour, Korn Ferry Tour, and PGA Tour competitions. The facility annually hosts The Couples Classic, a fall tournament limited to 96 teams. Its tournament hosting history and championship-caliber design make it one of the country's premier public golf destinations.
