RTJ Golf Trail at Oxmoor Valley

Birmingham, AL, United States

RTJ Golf Trail at Oxmoor Valley is located in Birmingham, Alabama, minutes from downtown on former U.S. Steel mining land. The facility features three distinct courses sculpted from the Appalachian peaks and valleys, characterized by scenic forests, numerous creeks, and challenging elevation changes. The Ridge Course offers heavy tree cover and significant elevation changes, with a notable par-5 3rd hole featuring a green buttressed by exposed shale rock, paying tribute to the area's mining heritage. The Valley Course underwent complete renovation in 2021, adding new tees, bunkers, and TifEagle greens, with several hole redesigns including the reconstructed 18th. The Back Yard is a unique nine-hole par-3 course designed for casual play, featuring holes ranging from 59 to 132 yards with minimal water hazards and bunkers. It accommodates foursomes in approximately one hour and caters to novice golfers seeking a relaxed experience. All courses showcase the dramatic terrain of the region, with the Ridge and Valley courses providing substantial challenges through their elevation changes and strategic design, while The Back Yard offers an accessible, social golf experience.
